New Delhi, February 14: An all-party delegation from Andhra Pradesh today appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to bring a constitutional amendment Bill in Parliament during the forthcoming Budget session that will allow states to sub- categorise Scheduled Castes.
The delegation led by Social Welfare Minister P Satyanarayana had representatives from PRP, TRS, CPI-M, AIMIM and Loksatta Party.
The delegation brought to Singh’s notice that the Justice Usha Mehra Commission in 2007 had looked into the constitutional, statutory and legal ramifications into the issue.
They said that the Centre should bring out the constitutional amendment Bill in the ensuing Parliament session.
