Hyderabad, January 28: “Except the chief minister, every government institution including ministers come under the purview of Lok Ayukta,” said justice S Ananda Reddy, Lok Ayukta of AP. He hoisted the national flag on the occasion of Republic Day here today.
The institution established under the AP Lok Ayukta and Upa Lok Ayukta Act, 1983 to provide easy and cost free access to the people, for redressing their grievances speedily and effectively, is gaining the confidence of the people by the way the cases are dealt with, justice Krishnaji Rao, Upa-Lok Ayukta said. “The number of cases the institution is receiving is increasing every year and they are being disposed of the same way.” Krinshnaji Rao said. About 2,000 cases were registered in 2010 and that was relatively more than the cases received in the previous years, he said adding that in the year 2009 the cases the institution received were 1,500. Any aggrieved person can complain by paying a nominal fee of Rs. 150 to the institution and for SC/STs, widows no fee is charged. To conduct a discreet probe the institution has its own investigation wing to gather the factual reports.
