All arrangements made for Polling in Hyderabad Dist

Hyderabad: All arrangements were in place for the smooth conduct of elections in Hyderabad on Thursday and 95 per cent distribution of voter slips had been completed, said District Election Officer, M Dana Kishore.

Over 35,000 personnel were being deployed to ensure that polling is conducted without any untoward incidents. Over 41 lakh voters were enrolled in Hyderabad and 3,976 polling centres had been set up for them. Of these, 15 polling centres had been identified as critical centres and 13 as vulnerable ones.

Web casting was being arranged in over 1,000 sensitive centres and static cameras were being used for recording proceedings at other centres. Ten per cent additional staff was arranged as reserved staff to ensure there was no hindrance to the polling process, said Kishore here.

Over 17,500 postal ballots were to be distributed and special arrangements were being made to collect the same at 14 distribution centres. Basic amenities such as drinking water, toilets, ramps and other facilities were arranged at the polling centres, he said.

Voluntary organizations had come forward to distribute butter milk sachets at many polling centres. In every Assembly segment, one model polling station and one exclusive women polling station was being facilitated. This apart, at every polling station, there would be women personnel.
