Monday, 10 August,Colombo : All 40 Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan custody have been released ahead of August 15 as a goodwill gesture.
As per reports, the fishermen, who had been caught by the Sri Lankan Navy in June, were released by Mannar and Point Pedro courts. The release comes after the Indian High Commission took up the case for their early release with Colombo.
The fishermen will be repatriated at the International Maritime Border in a day or two with the exchange of fishermen by Sri Lanka Navy and Indian Coast Guard, add reports. India is also releasing five Sri Lankan fishermen.
