Alimuddin lynching: Convict out on bail, dies of electrocution

RAMGARH: Sikandar Ram, one of the 8 convicts granted bail in the Alimuddin lynching case dies of electrocution near his home in Ramgarh district.

According to reports in leading agency, the incident took place on Friday when Ram was walking towards a market and died on the spot.

A live wire that had snapped from an electric pole come in contact with the rainwater on the street.  Ram come in contact with the rainwater charged wire and got electrocuted , said the Officer-in-Charge of Ramgarh Town police station, Rajesh Kumar.

His body was recovered and sent for post-mortem examination.

The 11 convicts had been found guilty for lynching a 55-year-old Muslim trader, Alimuddin alias Asgar Ali in the Bazaar Tand locality of Jharkhand ‘s Ramgarh town on June 29, 2017, on the suspicion that he was allegedly carrying beef in his car. The mob had also torched the vehicle of the victim.

Fast Track Court Additional District Judge II Om Prakash on 16th March this year held them gulity and awarded life imprisonment to all 11 convicts, including Sikandar Ram.

Later, on June 29, Jharkhand High Court suspends the life sentence of eight out of 11 convicts, including a BJP functionary and grants them bail.

Mariam Khatoon, Alimuddin’s wife had lodged an FIR against 17 people, including Sikandar Ram, a day after Alimuddin’s lynching.
