Aligarh: School projects Zakir Naik as “hero”, Education Dept. orders probe

Aligarh: Another controversy triggered after Islamic preacher, Zakir Naik is projected as “hero” in a school book.

According to the news published in Hindustan Times, in the book, “Ilm-un-Nafe” for class 1 of Islamic Mission School in Dodhpur area of Aligarh, Zakir Naik is listed as one of the famous Muslim personalities.

Responding to this issue, management of the school said that the book was published two years back when there were no cases against Zakir Naik. Management also said that the chapter would be removed in the next session.

Kunen Kausar, author of the book and manager of the school said that the book consists of chapters on famous Muslim personalities and one of the chapters is based on Zakir Naik. No cases were registered against him when the book was published, Kausar added.

It is also reported that the book has nine photographs of Islamic heroes and Zakir Naik’s picture is one among them.

Reacting on this, Education Dept. of Uttar Pradesh ordered a probe and issued a show cause notice. Mr.Dhirendra Kumar Yadav, Aligarh’s Basic Siksha Adhikari also confirmed that a three-member committee has been formed to probe the matter, TOI reported.
