Aligarh: BJP workers seize truck transporting 18 buffalo calves, one arrested

Aligarh: Bharatiya Janata Party workers on Friday seized a truck containing 18 buffalo calves allegedly being carried for illegal slaughter near PAC colony on Ramghat Road in Aligarh.

The BJP workers handed over the truck to the police and animals to animal husbandry department for treatment. Police have registered the case under Animal Cruelty Act on the basis of a complaint lodged by BJP leader Pawan Khandelwal, reported HT.

BJP leader Pawan Khandelwal and corporator Pushpendra Jadaun had spotted the truck at Tala Nagri near PAC colony carrying buffalo calves, along with three people including the driver “On being inquired, they were told that the calves were being carried for slaughter,” said sources.

The police arrested the driver while the other two are on run. After receiving the information, mayor Shakuntala Bharti, BJP leaders Manav Mahajan, Manoj Sharma, Vaibhav Gautam and Dipak Sharma also came to police station and demanded senior sub-inspector Sartaj Ali to take action under Animal Cruelty Act.
