Alfano to attend anti-IS coalition summit in Kuwait

Rome: Italy’s Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano said on Monday that he will on Tuesday attend a meeting of the global coalition against the Islamic State jihadist group.

“I will keep stressing the need to stem IS’s financial flows and those of all other terrorist organisations,” Alfano told a meeting in Rome of Italian tax agents working abroad.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Kuwait’s Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled al-Hamad Al-Sabah are among those due to attend the anti-IS coalition summit.

The US-lead coalition against the IS was formed in September 2014 and contains 70 partner countries, the Arab League, NATO, the European Union and Interpol.
