New Delhi: All banks across the nation decided to only cater senior citizens of India on Saturday. Banks took the decision to only allow senior citizens to exchange their old demonetized notes for the new ones tomorrow. This decision is applicable to all banks across the country.
Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8 surprised citizens by announcing demonetization of 500 and 1000 rupee notes, large queues appeared before banks and post offices in order to exchange these currencies.
According to Rajiv Rishi ,the chairman of the India Bank Association, “Banks tomorrow won’t be doing exchange of notes at bank branches, only senior citizen can exchange their notes. All other services at banks will be operational & tomorrow we will complete our pending work.”
PM Modi’s “demonetization” drive aims at curbing tax evasion, corruption and forgery. He asked people to bear with temporary inconvenience. He appealed to give him 50 days. He made this appeal in an emotional speech last weekend.
