Alert sounded on Andhra-Odhisha border

Vizianagaram, April 16: High alert was sounded along the Andhra-Odhisha Border (AOB) following reports that some senior Maoist leaders were camping in Narayanapatna block of Koraput district in Odisha, which shares border with Parvathipuram of Vizianagaram district.

Following intelligence reports that AOB chief of Maoists Ramakrishna alias RK may have crossed over to Odisha from Chhattisgarh, police of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts have stepped up vigil along the border. While combing operations have been launched along the border, the police have been told to remain on high alert.

Sources said some senior Maoist leaders met in Narayanapatna recently to discuss cadre preparedness and work out strategies in AOB in the wake of reports that the security forces may resume Operation Green Hunt.

Maoists were deputed to guide the armed cadres against possible combing operation.
