Alair Encounter: Viqar’s father approaches HC seeking probe

Mohammed Ahmed, father of under trial Viqar Ahmed who was killed along with four others in police encounter near Alair of Nalgonda district on April 7, has approached the High Court seeking probe into the encounter.

In his petition filed on Wednesday, Ahmed alleged that his son Viqar and four others – Syed Amjed, Mohd Zakir, Mohd Haneef and Izhar Khan, were killed by the police in a fake encounter while they were being brought to Nampally Court from Warangal Jail. He requested the High Court to order an independent and high-level probe into killing of those five under trials.

It may be mentioned that the State Government, on April 13, has constituted a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), headed by senior IPS officer Sandeep Shandilya to undertake a thorough investigation into the encounter. Viqar’s father and several Muslim organisations and also political parties have been demanding a CBI probe into the encounter which they claimed was fake. (INN)
