National Confederation of Human Rights Organizations, New Delhi conducted a meeting yesterday in Hyderabad yesterday. A report of the fact finding committee was presented to the media persons.
Speaking on this occasion, Prof. A. Marx, Chairperson, NCHRO, Chennai, Rene Alline, National Secretary, New Delhi told that on the instruction from the higher officials of Telangana police, Warangal police brutally murdered under-trial prisoners and named this incident as an encounter. They told that Warangal police squad, led by Reserve Sub-Inspector of Police Mr. Uday Bhasker took five prisoners from Warangal Jail at 8:00 a.m. on 7th April for taking them to Nampally Criminal court. It was alleged that one of the prisoners tried to snatch a weapon from a policeman with an intention to kill him. The other policemen responded it by opening fire against all the five prisoners.
Prof. Marx told that during the investigation it was revealed that actually the police squad was to take the prisoners at 11 a.m but the police made haste to take them at 8 p.m. The police had closed down the road four Km. before Alair police statement to Implement the script of the encounter easily. Criminal cases were registered in Alair police station against the prisoners in order to patch up the encounter. He also presented before the media persons the story of encounter fabricated by the police. The photographs of all the five under trial prisoners show that their hands and feet are tied up. In such a situation, there is no possibility of the prisoners to attack on the police. The distance between Warangal and Hyderabad is 147 Km. which takes three hours to reach Hyderabad but the police took all the five prisoners from Warangal Jail at 8 a.m. the police had failed to prove the allegations leveled against them and it was certain that all these prisoners would be exonerated from the charges. Prof. Marx also told that these prisoners had expressed the danger of their lives and had made a request to shift them from Warangal to Cherlapally Jail Hyderabad which was overlooked. Four out of the five prisoners belonged to Hyderabad, despite this, they were kept in Warangal jail. He also told that police registered murder cases against these prisoners at Alair police station after they were murdered. Despite the orders of Supreme Court and National Human Rights Commission, police is reluctant to register murder case against Uday Bhasker, RSI. He informed that DGP of Telangana Police clearly refused to register a murder case against the police in such cases and said that there is no justification for this. Prof. Marx also expressed his anger over the attitude of M.P. of Nalgonda Mr. B. Narsaiah Goud when he expressed his ignorance about the incident when Prof. Marx telephoned him. The M.P. told that SIT constituted by State Govt. is justified. Prof. Marx rejected out rightly the constitution of SIT and said that the members of the police officials of this team are counted as anti-Muslim. With the constitution of SIT all the hopes of getting justice have been finished. He demanded that the Govt. should register murder case against the police officers and give a compensation of Rs. 30 lakh to the descendants of the deceased. He mentioned that Govt. of Tamil Nadu already sanctioned Rs. 3 lakh compensation to the descendants of the victims even before the investigations could start to ensure the innocence of the victims.
