Akhtar and asif likely to make comeback

Karachi, July 10: The fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif could make comeback in the International cricket soon as they have been expected to be included in the 30-member squad for the Champions Trophy by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB),

According to PCB sources Chairman Ejaz Butt had given green single to select Mohammad Asif in the Champions Trophy probable list, while he had told the interim Chief Selector Wasim Bari to discuss the team management in Sri Lanka on the selection issue of Akhtar.

Bari will now flew to Colombo to consult with captain Younis Khan, coach Intikhab Alam and manager Yawar Saeed on the selection of squad for the One-day series against Sri Lanka and Champions Trophy as ICC has given 23rd July deadline for submission of the preliminary squads by all the cricket boards.

Asif was banned for 12-month after his dope test was found positive in the Indian Premier League and the ban will end on September 22, the day on which tournament will commence.
