LUCKNOW: Criticising the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister for reinducting tainted former mines minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, BSP chief Mayawati today said the “u-turn” shows the “weakness” of Akhilesh Yadav.
“By reinducting Prajapati, who was expelled recently on corruption charges, the head of the SP government has not only proved himself a weak Chief Minister, who makes u-turn, but has also shown that, besides dismal law and order, corruption is the order of the day in UP,” she said in a statement.
She said people find it hard to understand as to why Mr Prajapati, who was dismissed on charges of massive corruption in the mining department on which the High Court has ordered a CBI probe, has been reinducted.
“What was the compulsion for doing so (reinduction of Prajapti). Even if his department is changed, his work, character and behaviour is not going to change,” she said.
Mayawati said that because the Chief Minister “goes back” on his decisions, his government is regarded as a “weak one” “…and its bad effect is also reflective on the state’s law and order and development,” she claimed.
The BSP chief said most of the development and public welfare works which are being claimed by the Akhilesh government through newspapers advertisements were started by the previous government led by her.
In perhaps the last expansion of the Akhilesh Yadav ministry before the 2017 UP Assembly polls, former UP Mines Minister Prajapati, against whose reinduction a social activist had petitioned the Governor, was today sworn in along with three others.
