Panchayat Raj Minister K. Tarakarama Rao said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav understood the Water Grid programme of Telangana Government, but Leader of Opposition Jana Reddy could not understand the same.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Water Grid works at Uday Samudram of Nalgonda district on Saturday. Ministers Jagadish Reddy and Lakshma Reddy, TRS MLAs and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
Addressing a public meeting later, KTR accused the opposition parties of causing obstacles in the execution of Water Grid project. He said that the government aims to provide tapped water supply to all households in the next three years. He said pipelines of 1.25 lakh kilometres would be laid at a cost of Rs. 36,000 crore.
KTR said that Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar were the most backward districts of Telangana. He said although Krishna River flows from both the districts, drought conditions have become a perennial affair. He said previous TDP and Congress Governments failed to develop both the districts. However, he said that the TRS Government would develop both the districts on priority basis. (INN)
