Amid speculations of an alliance between the TRS and MIM for the forthcoming GHMC elections, MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi called on Panchayat Raj Minister K. Tarakarama Rao in the State Secretariat on Friday.
Accompanied with Malakpet legislator Ahmed Balala, Akbaruddin Owaisi held discussions with KTR on various issues related to GHMC elections for almost two hours. According to sources, both KTR and Akbaruddin Owaisi were of the view that instead of an open alliance, both the parties should have an “understanding” for a friendly contest on all seats. Akbaruddin Owaisi reportedly made it clear that MIM would seriously contest on at least 90 seats. KTR also expressed confidence of TRS winning over 70 seats in the GHMC limits.
They also discussed the possible impact of joining of Congress MLC M.S. Prabhakar and TDP MLA G. Saianna.
The MIM and TRS leaders are likely to have a few more interactions in the next few days to finalise the “understanding” pact between them.
When enquired by the media persons, the officials maintained that both the leaders had discussion on minorities’ schemes and the status of assurances given by Chief Minister K. Chandrashkar Rao for the welfare of minorities. (INN)
