Akbar Owaisi asks GHMC to prioritise road widening works

MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi on Monday slammed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation for not taking up road widening works on top priority. He pointed out that the land rates have tremendously increased by four times since inception of proposal of road widening.

He made these remarks during the inspection of various areas of Chandrayangutta constituency along with GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain, GHMC Commissioner MT Krishna Babu and other officials.

Akbaruddin Owaisi pointed out that the road widening works were at very low phase and there was a need to prioritise them as works that were started five years ago were yet to be completed. He informed that the rate per square yard was Rs 6,000 and it became Rs 25,000 now. He further pointed out that the cheques have not been issued so far for the properties which have been acquired by the GHMC and questioned the officials for reasons for delay in issuing the cheques and directed the officials to take his services in convincing the public regarding road widening.

Meanwhile, the GHMC Commissioner said that the encroachments were coming up on either side of the widened roads and directed the officials to remove the encroachments on priority basis duly coordinating with the police officials. Responding to a query, he directed the officials to issue the Land Acquisition cheques to the effected people at the earliest duly involving the Corporators and the MLA, if any problem arises.

The Commissioner directed the Engineering officials to take up the works pertaining to culverts with immediate effect since they were not been grounded since long time and further instructed to expedite the works in a phased manner at the earliest. He also directed the officials to take up junction improvement works at Owaisi Hospital, Midhani Junction.

The team has visited various areas of Hafeez Baba Nagar, Bandlaguda, Ghouse Nagar. The Commissioner directed the Engineering officials to put up the proposals for construction of sports stadium at Ghouse Nagar as requested by the MLA, where 4 acres of land is available and further directed the MRO, Bandlaguda to be vigilant as lot of encroachments are coming up in that areas and also informed the MRO, Bandlgaguda can utilize the services and manpower from GHMC in clearing the encroachments.

Later on the team has inspected various lakes like Suram Cheruvu, Palle Cheruvu in and around the areas of the said Constituency. The Commissioner directed the officials to take up the lake protection works, overall improvement of lakes and beautification wherever necessary.

Muntaz Ali, Abdul Qavi Ansari, Samad Ahmed Abbad and Mansoor Bin Mohd Awalgi, Additional Commissioners D. Ronald Rose, L. Vandan Kumar and N. Ravi Kiran, Zonal Commissioner (South) G.V. Raghu, Chief City Planner, S. Pankaja, Deputy Commissioner, Circle-4 and senior officials from Health, Town Planning and Engineering wing participated in the visit. (INN)
