Akbar files petition for special status prisioner in jail

The petition filed by the police in Nirmal Court for taking MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi into their custody for seven days for further questioning has been posted for hearing on Friday.

The MIM legislator has been arrested and remanded to 14 days judicial custody by the Nirmal Court in Adilabad district on Wednesday, for his alleged hate speech made last month. As many as seven sections under IPC including sedition charges have been clamped on Akbaruddin.

The counsel for the MIM legislator also filed a petition in the court for shifting him from the Adilabad district jail to Chanchalguda jail in Hyderabad. However this petition was dismissed by the court after directing the police to ensure that the required medical treatment is provided to the MLA.

After the police filed a petition seeking seven days police custody of Akbaruddin, his counsel also filed a counter petition seeking special status and a special cell to him. All these are expected to come up for hearing on Friday.

Meanwhile the Osmania University police are seeking legal opinion for bringing Akbaruddin to Chanchlguda Jail from Adilabad jail in connection with a similar case booked against him here.

It might be mentioned here that on a compliant lodged in the Nampally court here, the judge had directed the OU police to register a case against Akbaruddin. Notices were also issued to the TV channels which have telecast the alleged hate speech of Akbaruddin for securing all the relevant evidence.

The police have also arrested the MIM Party’s Nirmal Town President in connection with the case registered against Akbaruddin.
