Hyderabad: Advisor to the government on minority affairs, A K Khan and Secretary Minority Welfare Syed Omer Jaleel visited historical Makkah Masjid on Tuesday and got acquainted with the problems faced during the process. Government prepared project to save the Masjid from the damages caused by the plants sprouting from ceiling and walls.
8.48 Cr was sanctioned for the project. The work will be complete within one and a half year. Director Archaeology and experts of R&B and archeology departments were also present during inspection.
Staff of Makkah Masjid, who are deprived of salaries for 4 months, were stopped from presenting their problems. Local MLA invited officials’ attention towards the matter on which it was told that the budget has been issued and the salaries will be remitted to their account soon.
The renovation works will include restoration of the mosque structure, lighting and sound system, closed circuit cameras and construction of facilities for ablution and washroom.
