The ‘model gym’ project in the historic Ajmal Khan Park in Karol Bagh area in North Delhi is likely to be completed in next two months, a top official of the NDMC said today.
North Delhi Deputy Mayor Ravindra Gupta today inspected the park, which is located over five acres of land and named after Ajmal Khan or Hakim Ajmal Khan, a freedom fighter and Indian physician specialising in the field of Unani medicine.
As per the proposed plan by the NDMC, a separate playing space for children will be created inside the park along with a yoga area for women, among other amenities.
“We had a meeting with private companies last week and we have fast-tracked this project and it should be completed in next two months,” Gupta told PTI.
“This will serve as a pilot project for us and on the same line we have proposed to develop our other bigger parks too,” he said.
The gym will have all necessary exercising facilities and equipments and based on its success here, we will replicate it for other big parks under our jurisdiction, he said.
