Ajit Singh inaugurates MRO facility

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh inaugurated the country’s first intergrated third party aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul ( MRO) facility complex at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) here last night. The MRO facility, which was set up at an investment of around Rs 350 crore, is a fully-owned subsidiary of MAS GMR Aero Technical Limited (MGAT) The facility developed as 50:50 joint venture partnership by GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL) and Malaysian Aerospace Engineering (MAE). The facility is expected to provide full aircraft base maintenance service infrastructure catering to the maintenance needs of regional and global airline customers. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ajit opined the future aviation business was promising. The Indian aviation industry was ninth largest in the world. The facility had 72 aviation engineers trained for over three years in Malaysia.

It would be augmented to handle A330 and B777 aircraft soon, he added. UNI
