Announcing his intention to contest the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Bollywood actor Ajaz Khan has sought the ticket from All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) for Mumbra-Kalwa Vidhan Sabha Seat.

After a meeting with AIMIM Mumbra leaders on Thursday, Ajaz Khan publicly made his intention to contest in the state of Maharashtra during his visit to the City on Friday.
In response to a question from media that there are at least 07 others who are seeking the AIMIM ticket from Mumbra-Kalwa, Khan said that the final decision will be taken by AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi.
“Ultimately, who will contest the 2019 elections from the Mumbra-Kalwa assembly seat will be decided by AIMIM Asaduddin Owaisi. If given the ticket, I will definitely contest the Mumbra elections of 2019 as an AIMIM candidate”, he said.

For the first time in 2014, AIMIM had fought the Maharashtra Assembly Elections and won 02 seats – one from Byculla, and the other from Aurangabad.
Jitendra Awhad of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is representing the Mumbra Kalwa Assembly seat since 2019.
State election in Maharashtra is scheduled to be held in the month of October 2019.
