AIUDF chief predicts split in BJP-AGP alliance

Lahorighat (Morigaon District, Assam) Saturday was the last day of campaigning for the second phase of polls due to take place in Assam on April 11, and AIUDF President and famed perfume maker Badruddin Ajmal chose this moment to make a sensational hint of a possible split in the BJP- AGP alliance after polls.

Campaigning in Lahorighat in the state’s Morigaon District, Ajmal told ANI, “If we (AIUDF) get 20 to 25 seats post poll, you will see a few big parties, those who are with the BJP today, they will not take even take 15 minutes to declare that they will be in the government, whoever forms it.”

Ajmal further revealed that he is contesting to be a kingmaker in Assam politics, but categorically ruled out a post-poll alliance with either the BJP or the Congress.

When asked which parties were likely to move away from the BJP-AGP alliance, Ajmal refused to identify them.

“I will not name them. The AGP will also come and the BPF will also come. What is planned is not appropriate to disclose before time or there will be trouble for those political parties, but this is true, that a few parties have said that they want to be in the government”. (ANI)
