Aiswarya Dhanush honoured in New York

Film director Aiswarya Rajinikanth Dhanush, the daughter of superstar Rajinikanth, has been honoured by the local Tamil community. Aiswarya was here to attend an Indian film festival. The New York Tamil Sangam, said to be the oldest of its
kind in North America, felicitated her at a function held over the weekend at the Queens Museum of Art in the Flushing section of Queens. Aishwarya’s latest directorial venture 3 (Three) became
famous for ‘Why this Kolaveri Di’ song. It was screened for the first time in the New York metro area at the New York Indian Film Festival in the Tribeca Cinema. She is the elder daughter of Rajnikanth and wife of
national award winning actor Dhanush, who became famous with his song that he composed and sang for the movie. Dr Prakash M Swamy, president of the sangam, praised
the humbleness and creativity of Aiswarya. He presented the ‘Pride of Tamil Nadu’ award to her on behalf of the sangam. Aiswarya is also an acknowledged Bharathanatyam
dancer and has won the Tamil Nadu Government’s highest state award – Kalai Ma Mani. Vijayakumar, secretary of the sangam, and Gayathri Murali Rajan, treasurer, honoured other dignitaries on the occasion. Prerna Reddy, director of Special Events at the Queens Museum
of Art, and Malini Shah, member of the museum’s advisory board, were present.
