New Delhi: Bharti Airtel today said its customers in the city could face some “teething issues” over the next few days as the country’s largest telecom operator upgrades its 3G network.
In a communication to customers, Airtel said the company is upgrading its 3G network to “dramatically improve performance and deliver 4G like speeds even on 3G” after procuring additional spectrum.
“Our engineers will be working through the night to ensure your services continue to work in an uninterrupted manner even as we make this change. Yet there may be some teething issues you could face in the next few days,” it added.
Bharti Airtel had bought Rs 14,244 crore worth of spectrum in the auctions held in October this year.
The communication further said: “We would request you to bear with us so as to deliver a world-class Delhi network for you by December.”
The network transformation is also aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of Airtel’s network towers and to “ensure we meet our self declared sustainability targets for a greener Delhi”, it said.
