Airtel launches Kisan Green Card

Krishna dist.,June 18: Bharti Airtel Limited, the provider of Airtel mobile phone services, has come out with Kisan Green Card, the prepaid service aimed at providing value-added services to farmers using its mobile phone service.

Launching the product in the local market at a programme held here on Wednesday, Chief Executive Officer of the company Sharlin Thayil said that Airtel, in association with the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), floated IFFCO Kisan Sanchar Limited (IKSL) to make mobile telephony more accessible and affordable among the rural consumers. He said the users of the special prepaid mobile connection would be able to get tips on agriculture and animal husbandry in the form of voice messages, besides getting access to toll-free number of a helpdesk. “They can get guidance from scientists on farming by dialling the toll-free number,” Mr. Thayil explained. He said the objective of Airtel was to make the service useful to about 10 lakh members of the IFFCO societies.
