Several important issues like emerging security environment, organisational, doctrinal and force structure changes for overcoming future challenges in the perspective of transformation of Indian Air Force from being an air power to aerospace power were discussed at a high level national seminar held on Thursday at the Air Force Academy here at Dundigal.
The seminar which was held under the aegis of Training Command, IAF, Bangalore, Centre for Air Power Studies (CAPS), New Delhi, have also discussed matters pertaining to harnessing modern technology to boost organisational and individual productivity and strategic imperatives of military networks towards a credible cyber power. The seminar was divided into three sessions chaired by various dignitaries and attended by 90 officers from units under Training Command. The daylong seminar was commenced with opening remarks by Air Marshal Vinod Patney (Retd), Director General CAPS, followed by inaugural address by Air Marshal PS Gill AOC-in-C, Training Command. The seminar was concluded with a valedictory address by AOC-in-C Training Command and closing address by Director General, CAPS.
Centre for Air Power Studies (CAPS) was established in 2001 as an autonomous defence research and analysis body for study, research and focused analysis of issues related to national security, defence and aerospace issues in the evolving strategic and international security environment. Its main objective is to facilitate greater understanding of these issues amongst the armed forces, public and also improved policy generation and decision-making through research in such vital fields.
