New York : The Egyptian Government has said that it has found wreckage of Air Flight 804, which crashed into the Mediterranean Sea last month.
Stating that images taken of the wreckage were provided to an Egyptian investigative committee, the Civil Aviation Ministry yesterday said that the wreckage was found in several places, reports CNN.
The Civil Aviation Ministry, however, did not specify the size or the location of the parts that were found.
On May 19, the Airbus A320 with 66 people aboard crashed in the Mediterranean on a flight from Paris to Cairo. These included 30 Egyptians, 15 French citizens, two Canadians, two Iraqis and the people from Belgium, Britain, Algeria, Chad, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Portugal.
Egypt’s Aviation Minister Sherif Fathi then said at a news conference that he did not want to draw any conclusions prematurely, but “the possibility of having a different action or a terror attack is higher than the possibility of having a technical failure”.
Since the crash, the authorities have been searching for wreckage and the plane’s flight data and cockpit voice recorders, which could reveal evidence about what caused the crash.
A Civil Aviation Ministry official has said that once the black boxes are found, it will be brought to Egypt. (ANI)
