All India Muslim Minority Organization Chairman Syed Muktar Hussain, on Saturday demanded that the State government should set-up a Wakf Commissionerate and protect the Wakf properties, which were facing threat from encroachers.
Speaking to the media here, Syed Muktar Hussain said that the state government should release a white paper on the 25,000 wakf properties and they should be utilized for the welfare of the community. The political leaders and their henchmen are involved in land grabbing of the wakf properties. The wakf properties, which were already allotted to the private persons, should be immediately withdrawn and the muslim graveyards also should be saved, he added.
He urged that Urdu language should be given second language status in all the districts and Urdu Official Language Cells should be established in all the government departments.
He demanded both the Centre and State government to implement the Ranganath Mishra Commission and Sachar Committee recommendations in to-to for the welfare of the minorities. The commission had recommended reservation for minorities in education and employment, among other things. (NSS)
