All India Muslim Minority Organization has demanded that the Union government provide 10 percent reservation to economically backward Muslim people in education and employment sectors.
Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, organization president Syed Muktar Hussain lamented that though Gopala Swamy Commission, Justice Rajendra Sachar Committee and Justice Ranganath Mishra Commission analytically studied living conditions of Muslim people and submitted reports to the Centre in 2007, the Union government has failed to implement their recommendations so far. Besides, the 15-point program of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is yet to be implemented, he added. He demanded that the State government ensure fee reimbursement and scholarships to Muslim students on par with BC students in the State.
The Telangana Secular Front president Farooq demanded that the State government grant Rs 30 lakh for printing and preserving rare oriental classic manuscripts in the Diaratul Marif-ul-Osmania, near Osmania University campus. He also wanted the State government to recruit surveyors and linemen to expedite second survey of Wakf lands and ensure its completion in two months. He urged the government to immediately appoint Wakf Board chairman to look after the Wakf properties for the benefit of Muslims.
Urging the government to increase more money for carrying out repairs and maintenance of Macca Masjid, Royal Mosque and Public Garden Mosque, he wanted the government to set up a Wakf Commissionerate to protect all Wakf properties.
All India Muslim Minority Organization vice-president Mohd Nawab, CPI leader Saleem, Telangana Secular Front president Naeemullah Sharief and its advisor Farooq and Awaz committee president Abdul Sathar were present. (NSS)
