Hyderabad: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader and former Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi took a dig at PM Modi by reminding him of his background and calling him a ‘chaiwala’
Earlier on Sunday, Mr Akbaruddin was addressing a public gathering at Moghalpura on Sunday night where he said: “The reason that has forced the Prime Minister to bow down is the AIMIM party, Hyderabad and Muslims, who believe in their dignity and honour. So, don’t tease us, chaiwale.”
“Today you are competing with us, what did you (Narendra Modi) do during demonetisation? You were only talking about this chai, that chai, hard tea ( kadak chai), soft tea ( naram chai), kettle and tea powder,” he recalls Modi’s statement during demonetization.
BJP leaders often forget their designation while making bold statements and none of the party leaders take responsibility when their party leader mocks another, TOI reports.
Addressing the crowd on Sunday, Akbaruddin said Modi was a Prime Minster should behave like one.
“You were a chaiwala. Now, you are the Prime Minister, so behave like one,” said the AIMIM leader.
He also asked: “What did Modi sacrifice? Nizam Sarkar’s palace, a Rolls-Royce or wealth? He only sacrificed a kettle and tea box.”
