Hyderabad: The two-day annual national conference of All India Muslim Educational Society (AIMES) began on Saturday. Former minister of law and conference committee chairman Asif Pasha suggested to explore ways to utilize education in development and promotion of Muslims.
AIMES president U Mohammed Khalilullah, Advisor to the government of Telangana A K Khan, AIMIM supremo Asaduddin Owaisi, Minister for local self-government & minorities, Kerala, Dr K T Jaleel and opposition leader of Telangana legislative council, Mohammed Ali Shabbir also addressed on the occasion.
Mr. A K Khan observed that for centuries, Muslims here held significant positions in society and were economically and educationally well-off. But in last few decades they fell way behind other communities.
Asaduddin Owaisi expressed concern over literacy scenario in Muslim community. He blamed central government for not giving constitutional rights.
Mohammed Ali Shabbir hit out at state government for not providing 12% quota to Muslims as promised.
