Ailing former US First Lady Barbara Bush seeks comfort care

Washington: Ailing Former First Lady of the United States Barbara Bush has decided to be in comfort care than seeking medical assistance.

Bush family spokesperson Jim Mc Grath took to his Twitter account to quote a statement issued by the office of Former United States President George W Bush, to inform that Barbara (92 years), following the recent series of hospitalization, has now decided to seek comfort care instead of being hospitalised.

“Following a series of hospitalisations, and after consulting her family and doctors, Mrs. Bush, now age 92, has decided not to seek additional medical treatment and will instead focus on comfort care. It will not surprise those who know her that Barbara Bush has been a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself thanks to her abiding faith-but for others,” as per the statement.

Bush further ensured family support to Lady Barbara and expressed his gratitude towards those offering prayers for her.

“She is surrounded by a family she adores, and appreciates the many kind messages and especially the prayers she is receiving”, Bush added.

Barbara Bush is one of only two first ladies who was also the mother of a US president. The other was Abigail Adams, wife of John Adams and mother of John Quincy Adams.

She married George H W Bush in 1945. Later her son George W Bush was sworn in as the US President. (ANI)
