New Delhi: An association of AIIMS faculty members today opposed the fresh recruitment of 118 assistant professors, saying around 350 faculty members who recruited in last four years were yet to get offices and accommodations.
“Around 350 faculty members were recruited between 2012 to 2014. They have not been rehabilitated in terms of getting a cabin, accommodations and even working environment,” President of Faculty Association of AIIMS (FAAIIMS) Dr C S Bal, who is also the Head of Department of Nuclear Medicine.
Many faculty members are staying as far as in Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Noida, while some are residing in transit accommodations and even F-Type houses meant for lower staff, he said, adding that administration is recruiting faculty members but there is no infrastructure.
Bal said as many as 14 newly recruited faculty members have left the premier institute in the last two years.
“The administration is very enthusiastic about increasing the age of superannuation, from 65-70 years but in the process when senior faculty does not retire and new faculty members is selected then it will further create chaos,” he said.
“We demand that the recruitment of 118 doctors should be put on hold,” Bal said.
AIIMS had in April and last week advertised 91 and 27 vacancies respectively for recruitment to the post of assistant professor.
