AIESEC opens up the world for city youth

Hyderabad, August 25: The experience of visiting various countries without actually flying there, the experience of witnessing the varied colours, cultures and cuisines of different countries, all under one roof, in one short evening. That is what the AIESEC Global Village was.

“The city of pearls has had a chance to witness such an event because of AIESEC India. With 110 countries and 700 international delegates, Global Village is a convergence of diversity and leadership. It is a way to bring together different cultures of the world and create oneness amongst people from across the globe,” gleamed Nikita Garg, a member of AIESEC, when asked for her definition of Global Village.

Inside the spacious venue were umpteen number of stalls, each depicting the cultural nuances of a different country. AIESEC members from various countries were given only thirty minutes to set up their respective stalls. Not only did they manage this not-so-easy feat, students, both local and international, were taking advantage of the colourfully diverse cultural atmosphere. New friendships and interesting conversation was the norm of the day. Food, culture, sports -you name it, every aspect of the myriad cultures present were explored. The event was attended by not only the members and their kith and kin, but also by Jayesh Ranjan, the principal secretary for tourism in AP, and MTV VJ Jose.

The delegates from various countries put up great performances as part of the show to orchestrate their respective cultures and dances. Also, amidst these performances were given out the ‘whacked out’ awards.

It was fun and frolic, an amalgamation of cultures, that helped people step out of the box and experience other cultures.

It was the beginning of an event that aims to build towards the future and create leadership opportunities.
