Shillong, April 16: Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang whose ouster is being demanded by Congress dissidents, today rushed to New Delhi for the third time within a month, to meet senior AICC leaders.
AICC, which wants Lapang to continue to head the state, was earlier learnt to have given him more time to garner majority support in the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) following the revolt by the dissident group to oust him.
Lapang left Shillong for the national capital this morning, party sources said.
The chief minister, who had returned from a week-long visit to New Delhi on Tuesday night, had met Governor R S Mooshahary on Wednesday.
Asked if there could be a leadership change in the state, Lapang had said, “Congress president Sonia Gandhi will decide it.
