AIAMDK-BJP alliance likely this week: Sources

Chennai: With 2019 Lok Sabha Elections just around the corner, ruling BJP party is speculated to strike an alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) confirmed multiple sources in the two parties.

The two partys high-level meetings constituted to discuss alliances, seat-sharing, campaigns and manifesto, is scheduled to meet from Monday, and the tie-up is likely to be finalised in a week reported TOI.

A formal announcement of the alliance is expected to be made after February 10 said the sources.

According to sources, Chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami’s close confidantes and party ministers S P Velumani and P Thangamani are said to be in touch with BJP chief Amit Shah through defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

“Preliminary talks began a few months ago,” confirmed a BJP leader, he added that the AIADMK kept pressuring for the alliance.
