Madurai, October 15: Accusing AIADMK leaders of instigating violence ahead of Jayalalithaa’s protest meeting here, the district DMK unit today demanded a close watch on them and proper security for union minister M K Alagiri and other important DMK functionaries.
In a memorandum to police commissioner, a copy of which had been sent to the state Home Secretary and the DGP, DMK functionaries alleged that AIADMK leaders were trying to foment trouble and put the blame on DMK cadre.
The memorandum came a day after AIADMK alleged that one of its women’s wing functionaries was assaulted by DMK workers here while she was inviting people for Jayalalithaa’s October 18 rally.
AIADMK leaders, including Pollachi Jayaraman and O Paneerselvam, were camping in the city and allegedly instigating violence, it claimed.
