AIADMK General Council urges PM to sack IT minister Raja

Chennai, October 28: The General Council of the opposition All India Anna DMK (AIADMK) today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to sack Union Communication and IT Minister A Raja over the spectrum scam.

Adopting a resolution to this effect, the General Council, chaired by Party Supremo J Jayalalithaa here said Mr Raja should be dropped from the union cabinet immediately to facilitate a free and fair probe by the CBI into the spectrum scam.

Taking a swipe at the alleged ”mounting corruption”, both at the Centre and in the DMK government in Tamil Nadu, the resolution hit out at Mr Raja for ”shamelessly sticking on to his post”, even after the CBI raided the DoT offices, under his ministry over the scam.

It said the spectrum scam was unprecedented, causing an estimated loss of Rs One lakh crore to the Indian government and expressed exasperation that even after the CBI launched a probe, Mr Raja continued to be the minister.

The AIADMK also took a dig at DMK President and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for not reacting to the CBI raid and its investigation into the spectrum scam.

Mr Karunanidhi who was coming out with one statement after another every day, was, strangely, keeping quiet over the CBI investigation into the scam, it said and accused that the DMK leader ”has not even opened his mouth” on the issue.
