AI pilot alleges threat calls from cabin crew union

Mumbai, May 19: A senior Air India pilot has accused one of the company’s unions of threatening him over phone because he had asked the cabin crew to serve liquor as part of full service to passengers, going against the union’s directive.

Air Corporation Employees Union (ACEU), however, has denied the charge levelled against it by Commander Sandeep Marwah and said it has only asked its members to boycott him as he had “coerced” the crew to serve liqour when there was inadequate strength of cabin crew onboard.

ACEU had recently issued a directive to its members asking them not to serve liqour unless there were six cabin crew onboard.

“I was operating New Delhi-Dubai flight on May 15 with five cabin crew. Some passengers asked for liqour but the cabin crew refused to serve, citing ACEU’s directives,” Marwah said.
