Ahmedabad to host 2016 Kabaddi World Cup

New Delhi: The 2016 Kabaddi World Cup will be held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat from October 7 to 22, the international federation said today.

Gujarat will play host to 12 kabaddi teams from USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Iran, Poland, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Korea, Japan and Kenya, besides hosts India.

A special consideration of the International Kabaddi Federation in inviting these teams was to make the World Cup participated by countries from all the five geographies of the world.

The World Cup matches will be held in Ahmedabad’s upcoming state-of-the-art stadium The Arena by TransStadia, a press release said.

IKF’s decision to conduct the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup has received strong encouragement from the Gujarat state government.
