Ahmadinejad: Arrogant powers declining

Tehran, March 14: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has lashed out at those who claim to bring security to nations, saying bullying and arrogant powers are on the verge of collapse.

“Look at the situation in the world. All those who claim to bring welfare, security and peace to nations are at an impasse and nearing their collapse,” said President Ahmadinejad in the inaugural ceremony of a development project in the country’s southern island of Qeshm in the Persian Gulf on Monday.

He added that powers that seek colonialism, dominance over nations, establishment of military bases, bullying and looting and humiliation of nations have reached an impasse.

The Iranian chief executive emphasized that those powers that humiliated their own nations by relying on foreign forces and chose the path of egotism and arrogance are at the end of their existence.

President Ahmadinejad’s remarks came after the launch of the “Persian Gulf Bridge” major project in Qeshm which will further boost national economy and facilitate the transit of goods.

The 2.2 kilometer-long bridge will connect Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf to mainland Iran with an estimated price tag of €650 million, 15% of which will be provided by state funds and the remaining 85% will come through domestic and foreign investment.
