Ahead of GHMC polls, YSR sings kasu tune

Hyderabad, july 29: In remarks that could kick up a row ahead of the GHMC elections, Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday vowed to work as per the wishes of the late Congressman Kasu Brahmananda Reddy.

Embedded in the seemingly innocuous assertion is a clear-cut stand on the contentious issue of separate Telangana. Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, the former chief minister, had strongly opposed bifurcation of the State in the late 60s and 70s and had even resigned from office to prevent any such possibility.

Participating in the birth centenary celebrations of Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, the Chief Minister showered praises on the late leader for his commitment to the cause of Andhra Pradesh and said his government would definitely act as per Kasu’s ideology.
