New Delhi: Agitating sanitation workers of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) threaten to convert to Islam if their demands are not met. They said they will change the religion on October 5 by reaching Jama Masjid. However, some union leaders have opposed it saying the matter will not resolve this way.
During the demonstration at East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC), founder of MCD Swachata Karamchari Union R B Utwal and sanitation workers union president of Delhi Municipal Corporation J Bhagwan Charan announced that if their demands are not met they will be forced to change the religion. They said they will reach Jama Masjid in thousands of numbers and will accept Islam.
Before that, they will demonstrate at Rajnivas on October 3. The union leaders say that the officers and leaders are misleading them for the past 20 years. Every time they are given assurance but no action is taken. They demand regularisation of jobs and health security. Sanitation workers suffer serious ailments due to the nature of their work.
