American legend Andre Agassi’s former wife Brooke Shields has revealed the reason why the tennis star destroyed all of his trophies in a fit of rage.
Shields, the ‘Suddenly Susan’ actor, had been filming a guest stint on popular American television series ‘Friends’ back in 1995 when she was dating Agassi and was required to lick the fingers of Matt le Blanc’s character, Joey.
In her latest autobiography ‘There Was A Little Girl: The Real Story of Mother and Me’, Shields has revealed that Agassi stormed off the set while watching it, News.com.au reported.
Agassi later told her that had made him look like a fool. Shields revealed that got in his car in Los Angeles and drove four hours back to Las Vegas.
She further wrote that upon arrival he systematically smashed and destroyed every single trophy he had won, including Wimbledon and the US Open, never mind all the others.
Agassi won Wimbledon in 1992.
However despite the 1995 incident, Shields went on to marry Agassi two years later in a wedding that she has claimed was a mistake.
Shields wrote that she could not form a sentence, adding that she kept shaking her head as if she had duct tape across her mouth. She also added that it hit her all of a sudden, she knew she had made a mistake.
Shields revealed that she did not want to be married, adding that she wanted to be a bride but shouldn’t have been married yet.
Shields says it was only well into the marriage that Agassi told her that for the whole first part of their relationship he had been addicted to crystal meth.
Shields and Agassi divorced in 1999 and he started dating fellow tennis star Steffi Graf soon after. Shields married TV writer Chris Henchy, with whom she has two daughters, Rowan, 10, and Grier, seven, the report added.
