Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad Ranked Sixth Best Day-Cum-Boarding School in India

Hyderabad, Telangana, 23 September 2014 – The Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad has been ranked as the sixth best day-cum-boarding international school in India by the leading education publication Education World (EW). The recognition was part of EW’s ranking of the best Indian schools for 2014.

The Aga Khan Academy was also ranked as the best school in Hyderabad in the same category. The top schools were selected from amongst 913 schools nominated in 25 cities across India. The honours were formally acknowledged at the Education World India School Rankings Awards Night in Delhi on 20 September 2014.

The Academy is a new school that opened with its first group of students in August 2011. It was formally inaugurated just one year ago in September 2013 by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Kiran Kumar Reddy, and Dr M.M. Pallam Raju, Minister for Human Resource Development, in the presence of His Highness the Aga Khan, founder and chairman of the Aga Khan Development Network.

Situated on a purpose-built, 100-acre campus near the Rajiv Gandhi airport, the Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad is the second school in a global network of 18 Academies being established across South and Central Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Two other Aga Khan Academies are located in Mombasa, Kenya and Maputo, Mozambique.

The Academies are founded on the basis of the Aga Khan’s vision to develop home-rown leaders who possess a strong sense of ethics and civic responsibility, and who will contribute to their country’s future. The Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad provides talented girls and boys from all backgrounds with an all-round education of the highest international standards.

Head of Academy, Geoffrey Fisher noted that the Academy’s emphasis on the needs of the individual student and excellence in all areas of teaching and learning has allowed the school to reach very high standards in only three years.

The Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad is one of the few schools in India that offers the full International Baccalaureate curriculum, and its students are already achieving excellent results. The first students graduated from the Academy earlier this year. Many of them were accepted to top international universities, including McGill University and the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada; New York University (NYU), the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and Purdue University in the United States; and the universities of Warwick and Southampton in the United Kingdom.

Adding to this success, Aga Khan Academy students were offered upwards of US$1.5M in university scholarship funding. For further information please contact:
