Hyderabad, June 29: In a major fire accident, the E-Seva centre located beside the Salarjung Musuem was gutted on Monday morning.
According to police, Satyanarayana watchman of E-Seva centre was asleep on the first floor of the building which houses a APDCL office, when he noticed smoke rising from the closed shutters of the E-Seva Centre.
Satyanarayana tried to put out the fire by first shutting down the power supply to the E-Seva Centre and then throwing sand on the flames but to no avail.
He finally informed the fire services department.
Fire tenders from Malakpet rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control after one hour.
Meanwhile, general manager of E-Seva head office Vishnuvardhan was informed of the fire incident. He inspected the damage and said that seven computers, four telephone instruments, one token machine and all the furniture in the centre turned to ash.
Unclaimed birth certificates, E-challans and other documents were lost in the blaze.
It is believed that the fire started due to short-circuit.
