New Delhi: Afzal Guru’s son Ghalib Guru is a proud Indian who owns a Aadhaar despite his convict father’s execution in 2013 for his role in carrying out the 2001 Parliament attack.
The 18-year-old teenager who is currently residing in J&K’s Baramulla district now hopes to get an Indian passport to avail International Medical Scholarship, Quint reports.
“I appeal that I should get a passport. I also have an Aadhaar card. If I get a passport, I can avail international medical scholarship,” said Ghalib speaking to a news agency.
Ghalib stays with his mother Tabassum and maternal grandfather Ghulam Muhammad.
According to the newspaper, Ghalib plans on keeping his options open to the medical field.
“If I don’t qualify here, I would like to go abroad. A college in Turkey may give me scholarship later on,” Ghalib said, the newspaper reported.
Speaking of his mother’s hard work, Ghalib gave all the credit to his mother who kept him isolated from local terror groups and those from Pakistan.
“The credit goes to my mother. She created an isolated space for me ever since I was in class fifth. She always said that even if someone said anything to me, I shouldn’t react. My priority is my mother and not what people say, ”Guru says.
