After Unnao, another BJP MLA from Badaun accused of rape

Badaun: A month after BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s arrest in a rape case, another party legislator from Uttar Pradesh has been accused of raping a woman.

In her complaint, the 22-year-old woman alleged that Kushagra Sagar from Bisauli constituency of Badaun district raped her several times for two years on pretext of marriage when she was minor. The complainant’s mother works as domestic help in Sagar’s house.

“My mother works as a maid in houses at Green Park locality. She often took me to help her. In 2012, when I was 16, I used to go Sagar’s house along with my mother. I came in contact with him. He started talking to me and even promised to marry me. He took advantage of me and raped me several times from 2012 to 2014,” Times of India quoted the woman as saying.

She further said that the lawmaker had threatened to kill her if she approached the police.

“He has ruined my life completely. Now, nobody will marry me. I tolerated all this hoping that one day he would marry me but now he is threatening to kill my family and me if I approached the police,” she added.

Kushagra’s wedding has been fixed on June 17. His father, former BSP MLA Yogendra Sagar, has been in jail for raping a woman in 2008.

“When he (Sagar) raped me for the first time, his father Yogendra Sagar (a former MLA) had assured me that he would get his son married to me the day I reach the age of majority,” the victim said in her complaint, adding that, however, the MLA’s marriage was later fixed with some other woman, reported News18.

Speaking to ANI, the victim said, ‘Will commit suicide if I don’t get justice, I have been receiving threats as well and have become a subject of ridicule in society.’

Meanwhile, MLA Kushagra denied allegations, calling it a conspiracy from rivals to spoil his reputation and political career.
