After two years, Hyderabad twin blast case still without a breakthrough

Hyderabad, August 27: The twin blasts in the city which took place on August 25 2007 at Lumbini Park and Gokul chaat Bhandar has completed two years but unfortunately, the real culprits in this regard are still roaming free and the Muslim youths, for no fault of their, are still being harassed in the name of the investigations.

“Muslim youths are still subject to the harassment”

43 persons had died in the blasts whereas the number of injured was given as 70. Though Hyderabad city police had indicted innocent Muslim youths and false cases were made against them.

However, when the charges against the Muslim youths proved wrong, all the arrested Muslim youths were released. In the meantime, Mumbai police informed about the arrest of the bomb blasts culprits in Mumbai and disclosed the hand of Indian Mujahideen in the blasts.

Shortly after this, the special investigation team (Sit) of the city police, after the initial investigations, handed over the case to Octopus. The officials of Octopus arranged to get the release of the vital accused Akbar Ismail Chowdhry, Atique Shafiq Syed, Md. Asrar Sadiq Sheikh and Ansar Ahmed Basha from Mumbai’s jail and shifted them to Hyderabad to present them in the Octopus court.

The court had taken the four culprits of Indian Mujahideen in its custody and after the investigations, it was also disclosed that the culprits had actually avenged the bomb blasts occurred in city’s Makkah Masjid on May 18, 2007. During the interrogation, the accused said that Hindu fanatics had planted the bomb in Makkah Masjid.

They also said that the founder of Indian Mujahideen, Riyaz Bhatkal and his master Amer Raza had jointly committed the heinous crime of blasts. Octopus has filed its charge sheet for three trials related to twin bomb blasts in the month of March this year whereas the hearing of this case is still pending.
